A hot shower with a magic wand is a popular way to relax on the beach and enjoy the sunsets without getting too cold, says a new study.
But many beachgoers have trouble getting started.
Here are some tips to help you get started.
• Make sure you’re comfortable on the sand.
“It’s not a good idea to get in a cold sweat if you have a cold,” says Anne Zahalka, the assistant curator of aquatic and terrestrial biology at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute.
The average temperature on the island of Oahu is minus 4 degrees Celsius, so warm clothes will help.
• Bring a towel to put on.
“A towel is a good alternative to a mask, but you’ll probably want to bring one for each arm and leg you want to sunbathere,” says ZahalkAsha, who is also a member of the University of Hawaii’s Department of Biological Sciences.
“Some people get cold if they wear a towel, so if you don’t want to be cold, you might want to wear a blanket,” she says. “

“There’s a lot of different kinds of sunbathes on the planet, so try to find one that works for you,” Zahalk says.
She suggests a towel-type bathing suit, a full-body water jacket and a sun-bathing mask.• Use sunscreen.
“If you’re going to be doing sunbatheds for extended periods, you want it to be effective,” Zahark says.
“We recommend getting a lot and a lot,” she adds.
• If you do decide to go it alone, consider using a “spacesuit,” which is a protective cover that can be worn under a shirt or a t-shirt, says Zahark.
You’ll want to make sure it’s comfortable, as well as long enough to keep you warm during the day, and also be able to keep your eyes open during the night.
“I think the spacesuits can be very comfortable, but they also protect your skin,” she explains.• Dress in layers.
If you don’s want to go with a lot, consider a bathing suit that fits snugly.
“You want to keep it long enough so you don.t get too warm or too hot and can be easily put on or taken off,” Zaharksa says.• Wear sunscreen.
You can also wear a face mask to protect your eyes and nose, but “that’s a bit more complicated, and I don’t know how to do it properly,” she warns.• Keep an eye on your surroundings.
“This is the most important thing you can do, because the sun’s up and you’re sweating a lot.
It’s hard to look at the ocean,” she advises.
“When you’re in the ocean, you’re exposed to lots of different types of pollution, and it can affect your health.”
