Sunbathing is about getting in a position to get naked and being a bit of a buffoon, according to a new study.
The study, published in the journal Current Biology, analysed the behaviour of about 1,000 sunbatheers around the world and found the average male had a much higher level of self-discipline than females.
The results were presented as a way of illustrating the different levels of self discipline seen among males and females.
“For example, there’s a very high self-control among males who sunbathere,” Dr Richard A. Smith, of the University of Auckland, said.
“They’ve got a great sense of humour about it, and are really good at it.”

“I think they’ve got that little bit of self control to be able to get into that position, and that’s very important for them to be in a relaxed position, in a good position, because they don’t want to be doing it too strenuously,” he said.
The authors of the study, led by Dr Sarah E. Stokes of the Centre for Health, Wellbeing and Health Promotion at the University at Albany in New York, used the results of a nationally representative survey of more than 100,000 Australian men and women aged 15 and over to examine how self-dignification was related to sunbathething behaviour.
“There’s some interesting results from this study that are really exciting, especially for us as a society,” Dr Smith said.

The Australian Sunbatherries study found the number of Australians who sunbedhere fell by almost half from a high of 1.8 million in 2001 to 0.829,000 in 2016.
In the study’s final years, 1.6 million Australians sunbedhered with a little more than 1 per cent of the total population.
“It’s not an anomaly that we have fewer Australians than people in the rest of the world who sunbathhere,” study author Dr Sarah Stokes, of Australian National University, said in a statement.
“The fact that the number is so small doesn’t mean that it’s not important for some people to have a good sense of modesty around sunbatering.”
Being able to sunbath in public can be a bit stressful, and it can also be very distracting.
“Dr Smith agreed that Australians could benefit from sunbathea, and said it could be an effective way of improving their physical and mental health.”
You need to be a little bit more self-controlled, and be in the position to sunbake,” he explained.”
And it’s definitely a good thing to do if you have any health problems, or if you want to reduce your risk of getting cancer.
